Burning Man 2007
I had a great time. No, let me rephrase that, I had a f*cking BLAST!!! I've had 3 favorite years on the playa, but of the three 2004 and this year were, I believe, the most pivotal for me. I learned a lot about myself this year, wishes came true and then some. I met some pretty fantastic people and I walked/danced so much I lost two toe nails (or somebody might have stomped on me, it's hard to say)!
This year was a rough one. In my preparation to burn, I kept my expectations to a minimum; my only wish was for a cleansing of my soul, to come back a clean slate. Tabula Rasa. Not only have I come back with a sense of rebirth but it comes with some wonderful memories which are awesome to say the least.
As Chris and I were driving away I could see the temple burning. Earlier that day I left a little memory of my uncle who had recently passed and as I watched the fiery temple fall I was reminded of him. I thought the temple would represent more to me, but my thoughts were only of my uncle. At that moment it occurred to me how often we take time for granted, putting things off or waiting for that other moment, when what really matters is now. Now is when we live, not then, not later. Now is what memories are made of so shouldn't we live them to our fullest and make them worth remembering? I think so.
Here's to love, friendship, generosity and peace.
